急行「あおもり」

青森駅を17時13分に発車した急行「あおもり」は、16時間32分かけて日本海を縦断し、9時45分に大阪に到着。帰省シーズンの臨時列車として、1往復だけが運行される寝台急行だが、乗ってみると乗客の7割くらいが鉄道ファンだった。家族連れなど、普通の帰省客の姿も多かったが、会話を聞いていると、やはり16時間もの夜行列車の旅はきついようだ。女性客には、シャワーがないのは辛いだろう。この分だと、この列車も先は長くないかもしれない。

車内では、弁当などの販売は一切なく、乗客は乗車前に必要な食料を確保しておかなくてはならない。昨日の青森駅の駅弁売り場は、2つずつ弁当を買う客でごった返していた。これなら、秋田辺りで弁当屋が乗り込めば、かなりの数が売れたはずと思うのだが、やはり車内販売はコストがかかるのだろうか。

下段寝台で熟睡したつもりだったが、若干疲れが残っている。今は大阪駅前の漫画喫茶で休憩中だ。

むかーし旅行会社の企画で、青森→上野の昼行を583に乗ったことを思い出しました。始発の青森駅並びに沿線で撮影している鉄道ファンの多かったこと。青森駅では隣のホームで撮影していたファンを、てっきり同じツアーの乗客だと思い、油断していたら発車ベルが…。

あ、僕も青森駅で、隣のホームで撮影しました。
でも、青森駅も淀川の橋りょうも、思ったほどファンはいなかったように思います。

上野-青森間を走っていた、583系の「はつかり」。憧れでしたね……。「ひばり」は乗ったことがあるんですが、元祖「はつかり」は乗れず仕舞いでした。

こんにちは。
たまたま「あおもり」では、同じ列車に乗っていたのにご挨拶もせず、失礼いたしました。
“超遠回りの帰省”の最後に大館から乗りましたが、温泉でいい気分になって、自分の寝台(発車当日、下段への変更に成功しました)やサロンカーでぼやーっとしておりました…(^^;)

車内販売については、まったく同感です。
大館ではせっかく5分停車するのに、駅売店では「鶏めし」は売り切れ。
駅前にある駅弁会社の売店にはまだ残っていたので、ちょっと駅へ持っていくだけで、売り上げアップになったのになあ…と他人事ながら。
用意のいい人は予約していたようで、ホームで受け取っている姿を見掛けました。
